Agriculture
Seasonal reliability. Australian agriculture is among the most productive and highly mechanised in the world. Every year, Australian industry consumes around 30 billion litres of diesel, making it the essential fuel that powers tractors, harvesters, irrigation pumps and freight across regional Australia.
For farmers, diesel isn’t simply another fuel—it’s a critical agricultural input. It must be available when it’s needed most, ensuring planting, spraying and harvest can proceed on time, regardless of season or supply chain disruptions.
Aviation
Connecting Australia to the World. As an island nation, Australia depends on aviation to connect people, trade and regional communities. The sector consumes around 10 billion litres of aviation fuel each year, approximately 1/6th of Australia’s total Transportation Fuel requirements, making reliable supply essential to the national economy.

Road Transport

Road transport is the nation’s largest diesel user, consuming more than half of Australia’s total diesel demand, making reliable transportation fuel supply critical to keeping the economy moving.

Rail Transport
Moving Australia’s Heavy Freight. Australia’s rail network carries vast volumes of minerals, grain, fuel and containerised freight across long distances. While metropolitan passenger networks are increasingly electrified, regional, freight and heavy-haul rail remain heavily dependent on diesel, consuming around one billion litres each year.
Rail is among the most fuel-efficient ways to move heavy freight, but its scale makes secure supply essential. Reliable, lower-emissions diesel will help maintain Australia’s freight capacity while supporting the industry’s transition to more sustainable operations.
Mining
Powering Australia’s Largest Export Industry. Mining is Australia’s largest export industry and one of the nation’s biggest earners of foreign income. From iron ore and coal to gold, copper and critical minerals, the sector depends on reliable diesel to power haul trucks, excavators, drills and remote operations across the country.
Australian mines already use ultra-low sulphur diesel to meet stringent environmental and operational standards. The next step is increasing the availability of lower-emissions renewable diesel to further reduce the industry’s carbon footprint while maintaining operational reliability.
